Abstract
Transfer function analysis is being developed for both impulse testing and monitoring of power transformers and offers advantages of fault identification and location. Based on Bergeron´s method, a three-phase circuit equivalent to a power transformer is introduced in this paper. Sliding grounding insulation faults found at different locations in the winding are analyzed and simulated. The results reveal that changes in the transfer function help locate the fault and show the potential contribution to insulation fault monitoring and location.
