Abstract
This paper presents an image-reject front-end symmetric architecture which eliminates the need for quadrature mixing. Since the inability to generate an accurate matched quadrature components in terms of phase and gain was responsible for degrading the image signal suppression, it is believed that this architecture will highly enhance the performance of integrated receivers. Analytical formulae have been derived to calculate the image rejection ratio (IRR) of this architecture if component mismatching occurs, proving that IRR = 55 dB can be achieved with this architecture.
