Abstract
This article presents the results of a study on the performance of active filters (series, shunt and shunt-series) equipped with different control strategies (IRPT, SRF, Fourier, Notch etc.). In this first article the authors recall the principal topologies of hybrid active filters and then summarise the work performed in the domain of these filters. They finally discuss the harmonic impedance compensation (HIC) method which they have developed. This HIC method, like that of the compensation by gain constant (CGC), has four control strategies for realising the control of three installations of hybrid filters which are modelled and simulated in the PSB/Matlab environment for studying their harmonic filtering performance. The results of simulation show the good harmonic filtering performance obtained with the HIC method combined with the different control strategies.
