Abstract
The influence of a transmission line transformer in the performance of optical systems is theoretically investigated. After many eye-diagram simulations at 2.5 Gbit/s and 10 Gbit/s repetition rates, it has been concluded that the use of the transmission line transformer to match the impedance of the laser yields a high improvement in the system performance of the system. The cut-off frequency of the TLT was varied and it can be observed that there is an optimum value which maximizes the bit error rate (BER) of the system.
