Abstract
In large corporations today, there exist multiple, heterogeneous, distributed database systems. These systems are of different types and supported by different vendors. It is desirable to have a system whereby a user can query any of the databases through one interface. This kind of system could be used as a tool to import data from various types of databases into one common database or simply to extract information without knowing the intricacies of querying in the vendor-specific data manipulation language. This paper presents the development of such a system, called Integrated Database Query System. The proposed architecture is simple and cost effective.
