Abstract
Short-link intersections are very susceptive to the increase of traffic volume and therefore easy to become the bottlenecks of urban road network. To address this problem, we firstly gave its definition from the view of probability in this paper. Then based on the analysis of the flow characteristics at short-link intersections, two different control strategies, double circle and responsive judgment, were expounded to satisfy the constraint condition, i.e., the downstream green lights can be used fully while the upstream queue will not overflow. Finally, through the simulation analysis of the field data in VISSUM, we can safely draw the conclusion that the methodology and strategy are of great value in theoretical research and practice.
