Abstract :
This paper describes the results on a highly efficient horizontal-axis wind turbine with a diffuser, which turbine has higher output power than that of a conventional one. A wind turbine with a diffuser would gather wind energy with increased effectiveness and output power, since a diffuser increases the speed of the wind passing through a wind turbine. In this paper, simulation results on the wind speed dependency on the diffuser shape are shown. We also report on the results obtained through field tests, which was conducted to evaluate our wind turbine in terms of improved output power.
