  • Abstract
The effects of unidirectional high-energy surge following AC fuse operation are studied. SC currents can reach very high levels. At the clearing, the energy built-up in the AC supply inductance is diverted to other connected loads and appears as very high energy surges on their AC terminals. The study is specifically directed toward the interactions of this kind of surge with the input stage of rectifiers. The intensities of such surges in the worst, but still realistic, installation conditions are estimated and the immunity requirements related to this type of disturbance are reviewed.
