Abstract
Hydro-Quebec´s high voltage transmission system has experienced an increase in automatic shunt reactance operations during periods of high peak loads in the last few years. These suggest a degrading voltage robustness of the power network during load variations. This report presents a thorough phenomenon and analytical analysis of the voltage sensitivity due to load variations. We discuss the implementation of the indices in the control center in order to prevent this phenomenon.
