Abstract
This paper investigates some definitions and properties of covers of incomplete information systems, and transformation from covering systems to its corresponding partitions. The concepts of reduction of covers are introduced and the procedure to find a reduction for a cover is given. It has been proven that the reduction of a cover is equivalent to that of its corresponding induced partition of information system, so this concept is also a technique to eliminate redundancy in data mining.
