Abstract
It is well known that space-time block code with full diversity and full data rate is not possible for more than two transmit antennas. In this paper, space-time transmit diversity with antenna hopping (STTD-AH) is proposed to achieve full data rate and orthogonality for three transmit antennas. In the case of same spectrum efficiency, STTD-AH always significantly outperforms the other transmit diversity schemes and has very low decoding complexity. Additionally, because of the spatial interleaving formed in STTD-AH, the performance loss due to the reduced diversity order can be compensated by concatenating forward error correction coding.
