Abstract
The paper proposes a scheme to measure and quantify the topology, traffic, number of sources and other factors affecting the performance of ad hoc and gives a mechanism to auto-configure the routing protocol parameters based on the measurements. The factors which have significant effects on the performance are changing frequently, so the parameters of the routing protocols are supposed to reflect the variety and be configured according to the state of the networks. Unfortunately, the currently proposed mobile ad hoc routing protocols lack the mechanism to sense the variation and to configure their parameters dynamically. So we propose a scheme for auto-configuration and the corresponding simulation results show that higher performance is obtained.
