Editorial [50th anniversary of the IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility]

THE year 2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY (EMC). The Transactions were actually initiated 5 years earlier, in 1959, under the name IRE Transactions on Radio Frequency Interference, name thatwas changed in 1963 to the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE and, finally, in 1964, to the current name, the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY. As part of the 50th anniversary of the EMC Transactions, the 50 most referenced papers of the Transactions were identified. The complete list will appear in an upcoming issue of the IEEE EMCMagazine. The three most cited papers of the Transactions are listed and briefly summarized. This editorial also presents various news of members´ accomplishments or honors, appointments, or other announcements that would be of interest to Society memebers as well as the rest of the engineering community.
