Abstract
The details of two software engineering capstone experiences with event-driven, real-time programming for robots are presented. These experiences emphasize the problems that can occur when students are thrust into unfamiliar and non-traditional environments. Despite mixed results, most student teams appreciated working with such an open-ended project.
