Abstract
In April 1996 the electrical power system (EPS) of Bulgaria started parallel operation with the neighbouring Balkan electrical power systems members of UCTE, and the EPS of Romania. The main goal was directed to interconnecting of the Bulgarian EPS to UCTE. For the purpose, a modernization process began in the Bulgarian EPS for meeting the UCTE requirements and recommendations.
