  • Abstract
Limited by the spatial resolution of the smart antenna of TD-SCDMA systems, a cell of current TD-SCDMA systems can only support overlapping 16 digital beams for mobile subscribers. To solve the capacity problem, we use the multiple beams to construct many sectors provided by smart antenna. Since some of the sectors of a cell are orthogonal, we can apply dynamic spatial CDMA channel assignments, which lead to that more mobile subscribers in orthogonal sectors of spatial domain can share one CDMA channel without cross-talk, thus the number of mobile users in a cell can be increased several times. The decoding algorithm of the sectors is derived to detect mobile signals that are spread by the same spreading code. Simulations verified the approach to be valid.
