Abstract
Mobility management scheme in 1xCDMA packet data network, while being simple, lacks the support for fast seamless handoff within the same packet data serving node. The mobility scheme available for packet data service in the current CDMA network involves extensive signaling. This paper provides the solution for enhancing the mobility management available in current 1xCDMA network based on the principles of cellular-IP. The paper discusses the need for micro mobility, drawbacks with current CDMA mobility management and cellular IP principle based mobility management in 1xCDMA packet data network.
