Abstract
This paper presents an integrated boost DC-DC converter designed with standard CMOS technology. The chip features low input voltage operation and high efficiency over large load range (1 mA to 1 A), which makes it suitable for power management in the portable systems with low voltage power source. The prototypes were fabricated using HP/Agilent 0.5 μm CMOS process. The experimental results verified the good functionality and performance. In addition to the boost chip design strategies and considerations, this paper also includes a discussion on switching noise issues in switching power IC circuits.
