Abstract
Different multichannel grating optimisation strategies are discussed. The central idea is in optimal dephasing of partial gratings with respect to each other. This dephasing allows the utilization of photo-induced refractive index change with maximum efficiency. Experimental realisation of these optimisation techniques is demonstrated using a contemporary interferometric grating writing technology. This opens a rainbow of novel exciting application opportunities.
