Abstract
We demonstrate a very inexpensive high-energy picosecond laser oscillator, which is easy to maintain and to use for variety of applications ranging from pulsed laser deposition to advanced biomedical imaging. The described system should be also capable for efficient pumping of high-energy parametric oscillators and even parametric amplifiers to produce broadly tunable high-energy sub-picosecond IR pulses. Picosecond high-power diode-pumped solid state lasers are particular important because of their numerous applications in medicine and material processing.
