  • Abstract
The correction of the humidity effects of the results of lightning impulse tests is carried out according to a standard international procedure. However, this procedure is not suitable to application to short distance air gaps, common on of medium voltage apparatus. This paper deals with a new proposal to define a humidity correction procedure suitable to application on medium voltage apparatus. The developed procedure is based in testing results obtained with sphere - sphere and rod - rod gaps and has been applied, with some degree of success, to commercial systems. All present data were obtained at the high voltage laboratory of Federal University at Itajuba using a 450 kV - 1.25 kJ impulse voltage generator.
