Solar land 2010, program for PV R and D and dissemination in Korea

In July 2002, the Korea Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy(MOCIE) opened to the public "solar land 2010 program" which aims at the acceleration of R and D and dissemination of photovoltaic power systems in Korea and fostering photovoltaics as a new exporting industry as well. The key of the program is to install 30,000 rooftop photovoltaic systems of 3 kW capacity until the year 2010. The MOCIE presented several measures to take for the implementation of the program such as PV research and technology development plan, dissemination plan, financing mechanism, etc. This article summarizes the key elements of these measures. Some of them are already under way.
