  • Abstract
    Realization of a completely deterministic interaction of ion and cavity field is reported in the paper. The system is ideally suited for the investigation of cavity QED under cw conditions. The resulting entanglement of the internal states of the ions can be exploited to realize a quantum phase gate for ionic quantum bits.
