Abstract :
With respect to the transmission line rat-race circuit used in microwave band applications, we discuss a procedure for deriving a simplified lumped-element rat-race, and a hand-made circuit using commercially available chip capacitors and inductors. A lumped-element rat-race can be derived from the standard rat-race using π equivalent circuits and a T equivalent circuit and then simplified. The measured frequency characteristics of the derived circuit are in good agreement with the theoretical characteristics.
