Abstract
The horizontal and vertical falling motions and shapes of snowflakes were photographed using five CCD cameras. A new system was proposed which automatically measure simultaneously the shape features and detailed falling motion of snowflakes using CCD cameras from both horizontal and vertical directions. In addition the velocity of falling was also measured from a side camera. Thus it became possible to analyze detailed shape and falling motion of snowflake simultaneously. In this paper, though classification of falling motion of snowflake was carried out manually, automatic classification is possible using detailed data analysis.
