  • Abstract
A novel material of particular interest is the left-handed material (LHM) where both μ and ε are negative (Veselago (1968)). There are issues about its super-resolution and time-reversal properties, and its stability for numerical simulation etc. The closed form solutions of a point source on top of a layered LHM can be found in terms of Sommerfeld integrals, as a generalization of a point source on top of a conventional layered medium. We study these closed form solutions to gain physical insight into the LHM.
