Abstract
We demonstrate the nonlinear input-output response of a 1.55 /spl mu/m vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser with an external light injection. Pulse compression was observed with a transient response of below 100 ps, exhibiting a possibility of optical signal processing with low power consumption.
