Abstract
The impact of non-ideal adaptive modulation for Nakagami-m flat fading channels is studied. First, the consequences of bounded feedback information rate, not feasible with continuous power or rate variation, are tackled. An optimum fully-discrete AQAM scheme is derived and the signaling information rate is evaluated. Later, degradation due to noisy and delayed pilot symbol assisted channel estimation is analyzed and compared to that of continuous schemes.
