Abstract
A vague events-based Chinese Web news classification approach is presented. After analyzing some related sentences, the notion of an "event" is modified and extended to be "vague events". Algorithm of extracting vague events from Chinese news articles is also illustrated. Contain relation on vague event set is an equivalence relation. The Chinese Web news collection is partitioned into equivalence classes according to this relation. The preliminary experimental results show that the proposed approach is promising.
