High quality telephony over WLAN

In this paper we present a novel approach for merging the wireless telephony network with the wireless data network while retaining professional quality telephony and having little impact on the hest effort data network. The approach taken is to merge the upper layers of the DECT protocol stack with the WLAN physical and MAC layer technology, using a protocol adaptation layer (PAL). This merging of technologies, and so merging voice and data into a signal wireless network, is an enabling factor which will lead to innovative application in the field of wireless and mobile communications.
