  • Abstract
Substrate lens antennas have been successfully applied in combination with quartz thin-film substrates fur design of an automotive FMCW radar with beam-scanning capability. A series of 77GHz radar prototypes based on commercial GaAs components have been fabricated and evaluated. In order tu achieve lower manufacturing cost of sucb radar devices an IC design program fur SiGe radar components bas been initiated. A VCOprescaler combination for 24GHz has been designed and tested. Our latest development is a complete 77GHz radar tranceiver IC designed fur a commercial SiGe process with f,=lSOGHz. Transmission line stubs realized on-chip using available metal layers have been employed in order tu achieve optimum transistor matching required fur operation atf>l/2 fT.
