Abstract
The eigenvalue densities of complex noncentral Wishart matrices are investigated to study the spatially correlated multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) Rician channel capacity. These densities are represented by complex hyper-geometric functions of matrix arguments, which can be expressed in terms of complex zonal polynomials and invariant polynomials. Using these densities we derive a closed form ergodic capacity upper bound for spatially correlated MIMO Rician channels and evaluate this bound numerically. It is shown how the channel correlation degrades the capacity of the communication system.
