Abstract
It has been a significant trend by using the mobile wireless Internet (MWIN) to access the Internet. With the advantages in the related technologies of the MWIN in recent years, the numbers of the wireless handhold devices are continuously increasing but whose prices are relatively decreasing. The TCP/IP connection would interrupt when users moving from one subnet to another subnet due to the different IP subnet addresses. Therefore the support of IP mobility has been an important issue in nowadays. This paper proposes a new scheme for handover in a mobile wireless Internet. A time threshold and a signal threshold are jointly used to prevent from the ping-pong effect in the proposed scheme that based on the mobile IP standard. We then compared our scheme with other handover methods. The comparison shows that the new scheme is better than the other methods.
