Abstract
Quality factor of artificial dielectric resonator in a waveguide is studied. The resonator is composed of metal strips, where conduction loss is caused by current. The current is divided into a component circulating between the front side and the back side of the strips and a component moving back and forth between the both ends. Q value is improved by placing strips properly without degrading effective permittivity, and it is explained, from the view point of magnetic field distributions, how the strip positions influence the loss of the material in a waveguide.
