  • Abstract
A new structure is proposed for the reahtion of integrated inductors of relatively high inductance, capable of significantly increasing the self-resonance frequency in comparison with standard structures. The extension of the operational bandwidth is achieved by serially connecting four inductors, each one spanning one fourth of the area of a conventional inductor. The resulting cloverleaf-like geometry is characterized by a much higher self-resonance frequency, almost doubled in some cases, at the price of a reduced quality factor with respect to an equal area inductor of comparable inductance. The proposed stucture is quite general and can he applied to both single- and multi-layer inductors.
