  • Abstract
The paper proposes a method of generating the network traffic pattern needed in a stress test of a Web site. This method mainly consists of two stages. At the first stage, from a positive root signal modeled by an α-stable distribution, a network traffic pattern with multifractality and long-tail distribution is synthesized using a wavelet. At the second stage, the short-term distribution characteristic of the pattern generated at the first stage is adjusted using decomposition to low-frequency and high-frequency components by quadratic Volterra filtering and changing the ratios of the two components. Simulation results are shown for validation of the proposed method.
