Abstract
Ray space is the main technique to realize free viewpoint television (FTV) with complex scene. And the interpolation is one of the key techniques to make the ray space-based FTV feasible. In this paper, with the characteristics of data in ray space is analyzed, a new interpolation scheme based on inherent characteristics of ray space is proposed. Constant directionality interpolation and adaptive directionality interpolation are applied to the different ray space data, respectively. Experimental results show that the ray space interpolated by the proposed scheme achieves higher PSNRs and visual quality than that with the traditional linear interpolation.
