Abstract :
Protection devices in electric power networks, telecommunication lines and etc., are subjected to high currents actions when the lightning current or its part flows through the device. To test the devices on withstand stability at the lightning current action, IEC recommends to use current impulses 10/350 mus with the amplitude up to 200 kA. Currents passing through the protection device are due to insulation flashover or other commutations in networks. To imitate such actions are accepted impulse currents 8/20 mus with the same amplitudes. The experience of the creation of test installations meeting the IEC requirements is described in this work
