Abstract
Pervasive computing is the next generation computing paradigm, which not only enables users to compute "everywhere, all the time", but also distinguishes itself from mobile computing and distributed computing in terms of invisibility, heterogeneity, smartness and scalability. How to implement pervasive computing is a challenging task. In this paper, we propose to use the concepts of "ambient networks" and "network composition" as a potential solution to some of the problems in pervasive computing. An entire set of mechanisms related to network composition is described. We further explain how pervasive computing can be facilitated with the help of these concepts.
