Abstract
The paper explores the possibility of implementing VoIP based on SIP within a WLAN. Based on this system, QoS requirements for WLANs have been investigated and the performance in terms of the MOS value has been analysed. It shows that the QoS performance of the VoIP traffic is related to both the number of communicating pairs and the traffic pattern. Methods for improving the limitation of the legacy WLAN in support of QoS are also discussed.
