Abstract
In this paper, a method is proposed to integrate the virtual bass processing unit with the active noise control (ANC) headsets that allows good bass reproduction, as well as good low-frequency noise attenuation. Since ANC is used in removing low-frequency noise, bass reproduction in headphone is compromised when ANC is activated and bass components become interference to ANC. A solution is to incorporate a virtual bass technique to shift the bass reproduction to the mid-frequency range and to allow ANC to cancel noise at low frequency range, thus achieving a good integrated solution. Simulation results are reported to compare its performance.
