Abstract
In Belle, glass RPCs have operated in streamer mode with the Belle standard gas mixture. However, efficiencies of RPCs for the outermost few layers of the endcap region decrease from ∼95% to ∼50% due to hit-rate of 1.4 Hz/cm2 from neutron background originated from KEKB with higher beam current operation. To operate efficiently glass RPCs at this high background rate, high rate gas mixtures using SF6 have been tested. We report the performance of glass RPC.
