Abstract :
In order to achieve time-optimal seek performance of hard disk drive (HDD) servo system, many techniques have been proposed, such as near time-optimal control. Owing to production tolerances of HDDs, the actual plant parameters are random variables. To guarantee servo performance, an adaptive control scheme must be used. Thus, this paper presents an adaptive control scheme that uses a velocity trajectory to adjust switching curve of near time-optimal seek controller. The simulation results show that the proposed method is robust to parameter variations and could achieve near time-optimal seek performance.
