Abstract
The double conversion architecture for TV reception is presented by emphasizing the most critical block: the upmixer. Simple formulas for NF and IIP3 are derived and the particularities of the upconverter design are highlighted. The circuit is implemented in a 47 GHz SiGe technology. According to measurements the mixer shows 14..16 dBm IIP3 and 10..13 dB NF. The mixer core operates at 5V with 60 mA current consumption.
