Abstract
This paper presents a new redundant-cell-relay continuous self-calibration method for current steering digital-to-analog converters (DACs). The method is utilized in a 10-b 200MS/s current-steering DAC to achieve low glitch, low distortion, high-accuracy and efficient-area. The measured integral nonlinearity is better than +/- 0.5 LSB, and differential nonlinearity is between -0.45 to +0.2 LSB. At 200MHz conversion rate, a spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 70dB is achieved for 24KHz input frequency. Up to nyquist rate a SFDR of 53dB is achieved. The DAC dissipates only 8mW in a die area of 0.3mm2.
