Abstract
In this paper the robustness and reliability of MIMO-OFDM combined with frequency and time domain turbo equalization concepts are comparative studied in real radio channels. Furthermore the performance of the multi level bit interleaved coded modulation (MLBICM) and the common BICM, is evaluated in this context. Results from MIMO channel sounding experiments and high resolution path parameter estimations are used for realistic link-level simulations and to highlight the relationship between the propagation characteristics, the guard interval length and the achievable system performance of the different concepts.
