Abstract
Interference of digital noise with integrated linear dipole antennas was investigated for inter-chip ultrawideband communication in Si ULSIs (ultra-large scale integrated circuits). Gaussian monocycle pulse signals were transmitted from a linear dipole antenna fabricated on a Si substrate to a receiving antenna fabricated on a separate substrate. Rectangular pulses, as digital noise for interference, were radiated from a transmission line fabricated on another Si chip which was inserted between the transmitting and receiving antennas. The received Gaussian monocycle pulses were distorted by the digital noise radiated from the other chip. It is found that the differential mode Gaussian monocycle pulse was effective in preventing interference.
