Abstract
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) emission is an important matter in modern society. Conventionally, conducted EMI emissions are measured using a line impedance stabilization network (LISN) and the results are a mixture of common-mode (CM) and differential-mode (DM) noise. However, in equipment, the sources of CM and DM noise are of a different nature and also the physics of noise filtering is quite different for the two components; therefore, it is necessary to distinguish the two modes. Although there has been some research on such issues, there has not yet been enough study of a complete measurement system including software with noise diagnosis. On the basis of our earlier research on noise discrimination networks (Zhao, Y. and Zhao, K.Y., IEEE AP-S digest, 2003; Zhao, Y. et al., IEEE AP-S digest, 2004), an intellectual measurement system is presented and accomplished, including noise mode-decomposition with hardware and noise diagnosis with software. The test setup and an example are also given to show the efficiency of this intellectual system to solve electromagnetic noise on the power-line.
