Abstract
In this paper, an electrically compact low cost ridged patch antenna with moderate gain is presented. By introducing ridges into the patch, the horizontal size of the patch is reduced. A flared ground plane is employed to reduce the back radiation. Possible applications of this antenna include RFID technologies where compact low cost moderate gain antennas are highly desirable.
