Abstract
The finite element method-boundary integral method (FE-BI) is known to be very accurate when analyzing antennas with fine geometrical details. A set of hierarchical mixed-order tangential vector finite elements (TVFE) up to and including order 2.5 is implemented for the tetrahedral elements using an exact FE-BI formulation. A simple patch antenna problem was considered to test the accuracy of the mixed order elements. S11 at the input port is calculated and compared with reference data. The effects of using lower and higher order hierarchical mixed-order TVFE selectively were also investigated.
